New project: An Atlas of Economic Activities in the UK

Pretty excited about our new project! We will work together with our partners – the Common Crawl and the UK Web Archive – to create An Atlas of Economic Activities in the UK.

We will analyse smart data from web archives – that is a lot of web text – to understand how economic activities evolve and cluster in the UK.

This project will use the web, one of the largest sources of smart data, to map economic activities at an unprecedented level of detail. We will show the value of the web as an untapped source of smart data and create tools for the broader social science community to use the web as data. Our new tools will allow for the continuous monitoring and mapping of economic activities and, consequently, support policymakers to understand how economic activities evolve over time and in different geographic places.

Stay tuned!
